The Global Agenda for Social Work and Social Development started in 2010 when 3000 social work representatives and social development professionals came together to set the priorities for the profession until 2020. This significantly successful period of the Global Agenda has been an essential voice in proactively setting and fulfilling the Sustainable Developmental Goals, working towards more peaceful and just societies and strengthening the voice of the social work profession.
Now, the social work profession needs to examine new themes and processes to expand the Global Agenda for Social Work and Social Development for the years 2020 to 2030. From IFSW, we are launching a consultation process, where your input is essential to build a robust and inclusive Global Agenda that meets the real needs of all people. The consultation period will end in July 2020.
Please make your contributions to the Global Agenda for Social Work and Social Development 2020 – 2030 by filling in the comments box at the bottom of this page.

We are two social work students from Germany. In our seminar „International social work“ we pay attention to social work in different regions. We chose the country Austria. Of particular importance to us are five issues on which the Global Agenda has still to work on:
• security and the fight against legal migration
• securing prosperity and competitive capability through digitisation
• to improve cooperation with third world countries so that vulnerable individuals can be supported
There is also a huge need to improve gender equality and women‘s labor market opportunities. We think the Global Agenda is an opportunity to discuss these issues and an important step on the way against injustice.
We are a group of 5 social work students from Germany. In our seminar “international social work” we had the task to choose a country and inform us about the existing social work on site and to develop new ideas for that country.
We choosed the country mexico. After our research about the country mexico we knew the main issues. Together we developed three goals to focus on to improve the social work in mexico.
Our first goal would be an education reform. The main problem is that not anybody is able to have acces to education. But education is important to reduce the possibilty to become a gangmember or to become criminal.
The second goal would be tracing. tracing is a method to recover lost familymembers. the reason are mostly natural disaster or refugees who disappeared on the run. the organisation red cross assist at the search.
the third goal would be to prevent the organ trade. there are black markets for illegal acquired organs.
People get lost and then get taken their organs away which then get sold on the black market.
We know that there much more problems but we hope that these solutions may can be a start for a more peaceful future.
Hallo,

We are four social work students from Germany. In our Seminar “International social work“ our assignment consisted in elaborating new goals for a specific country that our group choose in advance. We choose Sweden as our Country.
After our research we focused on three main goals we’d like Sweden to focus on.
First we would like Sweden to elaborate in their same sex position in Kindergarten and schools.
The next goal we’d love Sweden to focus on, is being more tolerant against people with migration background. We know that Sweden is fundamentally a tolerant country. But in this case we would like Sweden to focus mainly on smaller cities and their locals. Because that is where most intolerance comes from.
Last but definitely not least we demand our country to work on their high youth unemployment. Sweden is well above the average. The youth unemployment also correlates with the high crime rate that infects Sweden.
Hello,
Being 8 female social work students from Germany, we attended a seminar called “International Social Work” in our college based in Düsseldorf. Our assignment consisted in elaborating new goals for specific regions/continents in the world – our group chose South America as our main region and we did some research concerning local social work. We explicitly focused on the countries of Chile, Bolivia and Brazil.
After our research, we compared our results and goals for the specific region to those of other groups (i.g. the Netherlands, Palestine). Our projects for South America were fighting child prostitution and provide sex education, fighting child labour and facilitate access to education and, lastly, fighting the gap between poor and rich. We wanted to work on these topics and also wanted to include them in our discussion of the Global Agenda.
On a world scale, we as a whole class came to the conclusion to support and boost international education (appropriation of school supplies, qualified teachers, access to education for everybody). Moreover, integration is yet another goal for us. Children should blend in the indigenous classes in schools and adults should have the possibility to blend into the local job market. Last, human rights are ought to be respected and basic human needs should always be covered.
Even though these goals and their executions might be utopian, we came to the conclusion that these need to be fulfilled in order to focus on other difficulties (such as gender pay gap), which also concern the majority of the countries in the world.
The social work profession has made enormous progress since the Global Agenda commenced in 2010. IFSW country-level membership has increased by 40% and governments are increasingly passing social work led legislation which has contributed more to their countries social development than other previous strategies. Calgary 2020 will enable the profession to take these big steps even further forward, that will map out the profession’s role in contributing to peaceful, successful and sustainable families
