IFSW is pleased to announce that President Joachim Mumba will be participating in a distinguished panel discussion at the upcoming ICSW International Conference on Participation, Social Welfare and Local Administration in Times of AI, to be held in Malaga, Spain.
Joachim Mumba will join Antoinette Lombard, President of the International Association of Schools of Social Work (IASSW), and Sergei Zelenev, President of the International Council on Social Welfare (ICSW), for a high-level round table titled: “Participation and Well-being: Perspectives from the IASSW, the IFSW and the ICSW.”
From a global perspective, social welfare systems today stand at a crucial crossroads. While citizen participation remains a cornerstone of democratic governance and social development, the post-COVID acceleration of digital technologies and the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into public administration present both new opportunities and significant risks.
The conference will also highlight intergenerational solidarity, which links with the 2025 World Social Work Day theme. Further key topics include inclusive approaches in rural settings, and co-creation methodologies in participatory governance. IFSW is delighted to contribute to this vital global conversation on the future of social welfare and the ethical use of technology, and to reaffirm our commitment to building inclusive, participatory and rights-based societies for all.
Joachim Mumba commented: “This important gathering also offers a unique opportunity for the three global presidents to not only share insights from their respective fields but also to reflect on joint strategic priorities as the three sister organisations advance towards their historic centenary celebrations in 2028. The centenary will mark 100 years of collaborative leadership in shaping inclusive, rights-based, and sustainable social policies across the globe”.
