The International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW) stands in unwavering solidarity with our member organisation The Association of Social Workers – Ukraine and the people of their country during this challenging and tumultuous time. We recognise the profound difficulties faced by social workers in Ukraine as they strive to provide essential support, care, and services amidst the ongoing invasion by Russia.
As the international social work community, we believe in the fundamental right of all individuals to live in safety, dignity, and peace. The sacrifices made by social workers on the ground in Ukraine are a testament to their dedication and resilience, as they work tirelessly to safeguard the well-being of vulnerable populations affected by conflict.
IFSW Secretary-General Rory Truell, IFSW European President Ruth Allen and Vice President Andreas Pedersen Kikvik jointly commented: “To our colleagues in Ukraine, we want to express our admiration for your courage and determination. You are not alone in this fight. Our global social work community stands with you, advocating for the restoration and advancement of support and aid that is crucial for the health and stability of your nation. IFSW calls upon all nations, organisations, and individuals to recognise the importance of sustained support for Ukraine and all other nations and peoples under attack worldwide.”
