2021 was a journey of challenge for everyone and a year when the social work profession can be proud of its achievements. Throughout the world, National Associations of Social Work and social workers advocated, championed and fought for people’s safety, community involvement in decision-making and the rights to equality, health and a good life. Other professions also felt the need to champion change. Social work’s first new set of partnerships highlighted the need for governments to listen to professionals and recognise the public as the key actor in controlling the pandemic.
