IFSW is pleased to announce a webinar hosted by International Social Service (ISS) members from across the world. This pivotal webinar aims to address the urgent need for a family-first approach in child protection within our diverse and interconnected world. With the dramatic increase in cross-border movement over the last fifty years, child protection systems have struggled to keep pace, often leaving children in care without the consideration of overseas kinship options for their long-term wellbeing.
Pascal Rudin, IFSW Acting CEO, and Representative to the United Nations on matters concerning Children’s Rights, emphasises the importance of this event: “As our global community becomes ever more connected, it’s imperative that our approaches to child protection evolve to match this new reality. The webinar will draw on the Equity in Permanency Principles (see also 2-page version). These principles are designed to overcome the barriers that have historically prevented the exploration of international kinship care, safeguarding the child’s connection to their identity, origin, language, and culture.
