60 students and professionals gathered at the Department of Social Work, University of Sarajevo, on Friday 15 March 2013, joined by the staff from the Department, reports Professor Darja Zavirsek who also attended the event. They were among the first to celebrate World Social Work Day.
A lecture on social protests and the role of social work was followed by student presentations on their experiences of social work practice. This stimulated a lively discussion about social issues, professional frustrations and the importance of international gatherings.

Professor Darja Zavirsek is President of the Eastern European Sub-Regional Association of the Schools of Social Work of the IASSW and Chair of the Department for Social Justice and Inclusion at the University of Ljubljana, Slovenija.
