The Young African Social Workers Network held a webinar on the 10th of December commemorating the International Human Rights Day.
The discussions and reflections emphasised the importance of social work in advocating and advancing human rights recognising that, rights are universal and practiced locally. The young professionals from East to West and North to South of the Continent, are committed to promoting social Justice under the global theme: Freedom, Equality, and Justice for All, which is timely particularly under the current regional and global socio-environmental, political, and economic status.
The session closed with a closing message to all social workers, ”Happy Human Rights Day to all the compassionate and dedicated social workers who tirelessly champion justice, equality, and dignity for all in the region and beyond. Your unwavering commitment to upholding the fundamental rights of every individual is a beacon of hope in creating a world where everyone is treated with respect and fairness. Thank you for your tireless efforts in making our communities more just, inclusive, and compassionate. Together, let’s continue the journey towards a world where human rights are upheld for every person, every day.”
